EC directs CEOs to get electoral rolls ready by mid-Jan 2008

New Delhi, Oct 8 (UNI) The Election Commission (EC) has directed the Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) of all states to get the electoral rolls published by mid-January next year.

According to sources, the EC issued this directive after a review meeting of CEOs from 14 states and Union Territories of south and western India held here today.

The EC would be holding a meeting with the CEOs of the rest of the country here tomorrow.

During the meet, they will be discussing the issue of the Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC), rationalisation of polling stations and use of Global Information System (GIS) for election management, the sources added.
