DAV students interface with Sunita Williams

Amritsar, Oct 8 (UNI) Five students of the city's DAV Public School had an opportunity to interface with Indian-American astronaut Sunita Williams at Gurgaon organised by Atlantis Max --that holds Aerospace Settlement Design global competitions.

Rahat Khanna, Saurab Sood, Jatin Sharma, Deepawal Grover, Siddhant Kapoor of the school were among the 2500 students from the 500 teams selected from all over the country to have a chance to meet the second Indian astronaut in person.

Sharing the experience Rahat said, ''It was extraordinary as the Indian astronaut took us on a video tour of the expedition of the Space station where she had set a new record of the longest single spaceflight by a woman for 195 days.'' In the question hour session Sunita told the students that she was a helicopter pilot who went on to become an astronaut.

Interestingly, Sunita said she carried the Bhagvad Gita, some 'samosas' and a small figurine of Lord Ganesha on her spaceflight.

Students were delighted to hear her space experience and were curious to know about conducting of daily chores such as eating, drinking, sleeping and going to the toilet.

She was playful about her experience of having morsels of food floating in space and competing to catch them by her mouth, and brushing her hair that tended to stand-up due to zero gravity.
