Maoists seize house of royalist in Nepal

Kathmandu, Oct 7 (UNI) A group of activists of the Maoist-affiliated Young Communist League(YCL) today seized the house of a former zonal administrator at Bharatpur of Chitwan.

A group of 15-20 Maoists seized the two-storey house of Ramjee Bista, who was the zonal administrator for the Dhaulagiri zone during the king's direct rule, at Chhetrapur of Bharatpur Municipality, an English daily Himalayan Times said.

''We seized the house as Bista is a royalist agent,'' said Prakash, president of the YCL of Chitwan.

None of Bista's family members were in the house. The family has rented out the house to a private company.

The YCL cadres also hoisted a Maoist flag in the house.

The Maoists recently withdrew from the government, saying they would not participate in the election unless their demands, including the declaration of a republic and introduction of proportionate system, are met.
