Yahoo to focus on investment on social media

Bangalore, Oct 6: Yahoo, the world's most highly trafficked web site and one of the internet's most recognized brands has investment focus on consumers, network and advertising, three core areas, Mr David filo, Co-Founder and Yahoo Chief said today.

Speaking to newsmen here, he said that Yahoo, has regarded India as a hub in respect of Engineering perspective besides working on focusing on local market.

He said that the mobile market was picking up and half a billion consumers are going to come from emerging market including India.

"The Internet users in India was expected to touch 100 million by 2010". Presently Yahoo was the most sought after web site destination in India and over 86 per cent of Internet users log on to Yahoo, he added.

He said that to ensure more transparency in buying and selling through on-line an Advertisement-exchange has been created. The sellers and buyers can effectively utilise through Display and search advisement Yahoo platform and take their business prospects to new heights.

Mr Filo, who was here in connection with the Yahoo's open Hack Day event in which over 200 drawn from Web's most respected developers, said that the event would help to throw out new innovative ideas using the collection of Yahoo tools, APIs and data.

The first open Hack day was being held in Asia, after successfully conducted in the United States and United Kingdom recently.
