Ajmer, Oct 6 (UNI) The Rajasthan government today initiated informal talks with Gujjar leader Col Kirori Singh Bainsla in jail to find a solution to the situation arising out of the community's 'Jail Bharo' agitation.

Gujjars had launched the indefinite agitation on Oct 2 and 60,000 people of the community, including Gujjar leaders, courted arrest for fulfilment of their demand for the community's inclusion in the ST list.

As an emissory of the state government to break the logjam following the agitation, the BJP General Secretary Ramlal Jat today met Gujjar Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti convenor Col Kirori Singh Bainsla and Gujjar leaders Brahma Singh and Durga Singh in the Ajmer central jail.

According to sources, their discussion centered around the food and health facilities offered to the Gujjar volunteers in jail and their release from the jail.

The government was apparently in a hurry to find an amicable settlement of the issue with the threat of the mass arrest of Gujjar women with their livestock on October 11 and the frequent clash of the Gujjars in makeshift prisons over facilities.

After meeting Col Bainsla, Mr Jat told newspersons that Col Bainsla wanted peace and communal harmony to prevail in Rajasthan.

Meanwhile Col Bainsla underwent an ECG test after he complained of chest pain yesterday and was found normal.
