Hoshiarpur, Oct 6 (UNI) Police today booked local money lenders for alleged harassment of a youth that compelled him to commit suicide.

Model Town Police today has booked Deepak Kumar, Painter Kaku, Vikas Sharma and Karan, all residents of local Kache Quarter, near Civil Hospital, under section 306 of the IPC.

According to the police sources, dead body of Devinder Singh of Piplanwala was found at Bhagat Nagar this morning.

In a suicide note found in his pocket, Devinder stated that Balwinder Singh of village Kakon, who is running a shop at local Jalandhar road, took a loan from Deepak Kumar, Painter Kaku, Vikas Sharma and Karan for which he had given a guarantee.

Balwinder Singh did not return the loan due to which the money-lenders started to harass him and last night they came to his residence and threatened him with dire consequences in case of non-returning of the loan. As he belonged to a poor family and was not in a position to pay the loan to them, he took the extreme step, the note indicated.

Police has sent the body for postmortem to ascertain the cause of his death, sources said.
