Lawyers hold rallies in Lahore and Balochistan against election

Islamabad, Oct 6 (UNI) Pakistan lawyers held protest rallies in Lahore and Balochistan, against the presidential election.

Leading the rally in Balochistan were High Court Bar Association's president Hadi Shakil, advocates Raja Rabnawaz, Sabir Jamil and other senior lawyers. The rally was brought out from the District Court at Quetta. The lawyers also staged a demonstration outside the Balochistan assembly.

They chanted slogans and termed the election of a President in uniform as unconstitutional and illegal, Geo TV reported.

Vowing to further expand their campaign, they urged people from all schools of thoughts to support it.

Heavy contingents of police were deployed at Mall Road, Aiwan-e-Adl, Town Hall, GPO Chowk, High Court Chowk, Regal Chowk and outside Punjab Assembly in Lahore, where the lawyers held a rally.

Meanwhile, police used batons on a lawyers' demonstration outside the North West Frontier Province Assembly building.

Lawyers are observing a 'black day' today, claiming the polls were unconstitutional.
