Two Lankan soldiers injured in Colombo shooting

Colombo, Oct 5 (UNI) Two Sri Lanka military personnel were shot and wounded by a pistol gang of the suspected Tamil Tiger rebels in the heart of the Colombo city today, military here said.

Two army personnel clad in civil dress were traveling in a three-wheeler when they were shot and wounded by an unknown pistol gunmen near a Muslim school at Maligawaththa in Maradana this afternoon, military spokesman, Brigadier Uthaya Nanayakkara told UNI.

We strongly suspect that it is the work of the LTTE pistol gang.

The police is conducting investigation, Brig Nanayakkara said, adding that the victims were rushed to the Colombo National Hospital for medical attention.
