SC directs Haryana to maintain status quo on Bhakra canal
New Delhi, Oct 5 (UNI)The Supreme Court today directed the Haryana Government to maintain the status quo till further orders regarding the breaching of Bhakra Canal,carrying water to Rajasthan.
A bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justice R V Raveendran also directed the three states -- Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan -- to approach the Central Water Commission(CWC) to place their cases before the commission, who in turn will submit its report to the Supreme Court.
The directions were issued following a submission made by State of Punjab that Haryana had not obtained clearance from CWC for breaching the canal.

Canal
to
get
its
share
of
water
from
Bhakra
canal
for
southern
Haryana.
State

Punjab
and
Rajasthan
objected
to
it
and
filed
a
suit
in
