Rs 1,000 pension hike for freedom fighters

Mumbai, Oct 5 (UNI) The Maharashtra government has hiked the pension paid to the freedom fighters by Rs 1,000 per month with effect from October 2.

Thus, male freedom fighters or their widows will get Rs 4,000 per month whereas female freedom fighters will now get Rs 4,100 per month.

However, there will be no change in Rs 500 paid by the State Government to the freedom fighters covered under the Pension Scheme of Central Government in addition to pension from the Centre.
