Kochi, Oct 5 (UNI) A petition has been filed before the High Court today seeking to direct the Sub Inspector of Police, Cantonment police station, Thiruvananthapuram to register a crime case against Forest Minister Binoy Viswom and Xavi Mano Mathew in pursuance of a complaint.

The petition was filed by John Peruvanthanam, a social activist from Kothamangalam of Ernakuam district before the Sub Inspector, Thiruvananthapuram.

Justice R Basanth today directed the Director General of prosecution to get instructions in the matter.

In the complaint filed by the petitioner before the Sub Inspector, it was alleged that Mr Viswom and Mr Mathew committed a cognizable offence.

The Petitioner alleged that on May 16, a meeting was convened at the Chamber to find out whether Mr Viswom had instigated Mr Mathew to cut trees from the notified Government land and thus committed offence.

It was also contended in the complaint that the Minister had acted against the direction of the Supreme Court judgement in Godavarama Thirumulapadu case.

The petitioner filed the complaint before the Sub Inspector on August 19 but the SI has neither recorded a First Information Report(FIR), nor taken any action. Hence the petitioner approached the Court.
