Major fire in forest, five injured in accident in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 5 (UNI) A major fire broke out in Kandi forest and second floor of a hotel near here while five people were injured in a road accident in the Kashmir valley.

Official sources said fire broke out in the woods in the compartment number 13 of Kandi forest in the frontier district of Kupwara early this morning.

Efforts were on to control the leaping flames, they said.

A police spokesman confirming that fire broke out in the forest, said details were awaited.

Official sources said fire broke out on the second floor of hotel Henna at Court Road near here due to leakage in a gas cylinder.

Fire tenders from different parts of the city immediately brought the fire under control. No one was injured in the fire.

Besides, police spokesman said, five persons were injured when their vehicle met with an accident at Chiterkote in the border town of Karnah. The injured were hospitalised.
