Karnataka Cabinet nod for Mangalore SEZ land

Bangalore, Oct 5 (UNI) The Karnataka Cabinet today gave its approval for acquisition of 271 acre of government land for the Mangalore Special Economic Zone (SEZ) to be developed by the Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL).

Briefing newspersons here, State Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj Horahatti said if some private land was there in the identified area it would be acquired at prevailing market rate.

He said a final decision on the Nandagudi SEZ, to come up on a 5000-acre area in Bangalore Rural District, would be taken after the government got a report on the proposal from the High Power Committee headed by the Chief Secretary.

Similarly, the Asian Infrastructure Development Corporation had sought 60 days time to come out with the project report on the monorail project planned to supplement the traffic requirement of Bangalore in addition to the Metro Rail Project.
