CR signs tripartite agreement for electronic payment for freight

Mumbai, Oct 5 (UNI) Central Railway has signed a tripartite agreement for electronic payment of freight recently with Associate Cement Companies and State Bank of India.

The introduction of electronic payment of freight for its customers, who book their goods from one place to another, will enable the consignor to pay anytime of the day as the railways can directly debit the consignor's account through computerised system, a CR release said today.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Kuldeep Chaturvedi, Additional General Manager, Vinay Mittal, Chief Operations Manager, Samar Jha, Financial Adviser and Chief Accounts Officer, Central Railway, Ashok Gupta, General Manager, State Bank of India and J N Jaitley, Adviser Transportation, ACC.

It may be recalled here that the Central Railway already has a system of electronic fund transfer for releasing payment to suppliers/contractors.
