CPI(ML) leader dies in police custody

Sitamarhi, Oct 05: The CPI(ML) divisional secretary of Runnisaidpur, Bikaoo Sahni, died in the police custody here today.Police said the CPI(ML) leader was arrested here yesterday on rape charges and was taken to Dumra police station.

Police further said Mr Sahni suddenly fell ill after the arrest following which he was admitted to a local hospital, where he died this morning, police said.

While sources said the leader died of cardiac arrest, the exact cause of the death could be ascertained only after postmortem. Meanwhile, the deceased's relatives have alleged that Bikaoo Sahni was beaten up mercilessly by the police at Dumra police station.
