CPIM decides to intensify campaign against 123 agreement
Kolkata, Oct 5(UNI) Resolving that the movement against the Indo-US nuclear deal would continue, the CPI(M) West Bengal State Committee today decided to intensify its campaign against implementation of the 123 agreement.
Echoing the party line voiced by General Secretary Prakash Karat on October one, the state committee said the UPA Government must not proceed further with the deal without discussing it in Parliament.
The state committee at its one-day meeting, observed that the issue of the nuclear deal was relevant to the country's sovereignty.
Accusing the 'vested interest' groups of creating violence over alleged malpractices by ration dealers in the state, the meeting said this was aimed at destroying the public distribution system.
The committee, however, observed that the administration should take stern action against any act of malpractice.
