Contractor fined for delay in work execution

Tiruchirapalli, Oct 5 (UNI) District Collector Ashish Vachhani ordered a penalty of Rs 2,500 a day on a contractor for failing to complete works sanctioned under Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam at Settiapatti Village.

The Collector ordered the penalty after inspecting the execution of the works taken up under the scheme at Settiapatti, Podangupatti, Pannapatti and Vengaikurichi Villages in Manapparai Union on Wednesday last.

Official sources said the contractor had already been penalised Rs 500 a day for failing to complete four works within the deadline of September 20.

The sources said the Collector also directed the contractor to complete the works before October 15, failing which stern action would be initiated.
