Mumbai, Oct 5 (UNI) The Building Proposal Department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will be computerised soon.

Speaking to reporters here today, additional municipal commissioner Shrikant Singh said, ''The department will be computerised to reduce the human element and bring about transparency.'' Municipal commissioner J Phatak said that the minor and the major spaces guidelines and FSI will be digitally available.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has already computerised its Building Proposal Department and the system has been a big success.

The software in PMC and BMC is being provided by Softech and will be installed in BMC within six months.

Softech CEO Vijay Gupta said, ''This system will reduce the human errors as the rules are complicated and the system is made in such a way that the drawings of the applicants are read and cleared accordingly.'' Mr Phatak said the PMC had cleared over 10,000 proposals in a very short time after the department was computerised.
