BEST administration projecting losses purposely: Sharad Rao

Mumbai, Oct 5 (UNI) BEST Workers Union General Secretary Sharad Rao today alleged that the administration was purposely portraying the undertaking as a loss-making one to pave the way for its privatisation.

Addressing a press conference here today, Mr Rao claimed that BEST was not running at a loss at present nor would it make losses in the future.

The BEST has over Rs 1800 crore in assets, Mr Rao said while accusing the BEST general manager of purposely portraying the undertaking as loss-making one so as to usher in privatisation.

Mr Rao alleged that the BEST administration was misguiding the people in an attempt create an atmosphere which would facilitate the sale of the undertaking's landed property and depots.

Regarding the electricity unit of BEST, Mr Rao said the general manager has himself admitted that the realistic position of supply division would be a surplus of Rs 58.47 crore.
