Badal claims no DAP shortage for wheat sowing season

Chandigarh, Oct 5 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister today assured that DAP fertilizers was available in sufficient quantity to meet the demands of the farmers for the entire season.

Mr Badal who spoke to Union Minister of Fertilizers and Chemicals Ram Vilas Paswan over telephone earlier in the day said that the state already had 2.5 lakh tonnes of DAP for the wheat sowing season, which begins in the last week of the current month.

According to the Chief Minister, the Union Minister had assured that the remaining 1.25 lakh tonnes of DAP reqired for the sowing season was on its way to Punjab and would be delivered by October 15. Mr Badal contradicted reports that there was a shortage of the fertilizer.

The Chief Minister said that nodal agency designated for the purpose, Indian Potash Limited (IPL) was already moving ahead of the schedule in sending and distributing the fertilizer to the farmers. He said that DAP would be distributed to the farmers well before the sowing season beguns.
