5 killed in wall collapse in AP

Visakhapatnam, Oct 5: Five people, including three of a family, died in two separate incidents of wall collapse in the district late last night.

According to the District Collectorate here, T Santosh (13), Anusha (10), Arun Kumar (8)-- all belonging to one family-- of Sagar Nagar Area and S Anitha (26) of Vepagunda Village and S Ramulamma (46) of Dayanandanagar were killed in the accident.

Visakhapatnam had been receiving heavy and continuous rainfall since Thursday morning According to the Weather Office here, the feeble trough of low pressure remained stationary over West Central Bay of Bengal off the Coast of North-West and neighbourhood of Andhra Pradesh.

Under its influence, rainfall and thunder showers would occur in most places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh for the next 24 hours. Some showers were also predicted at one or two places over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh during the same period. Visakhapatnam Airport recorded 26 cm of rainfall followed by Waltair with 23 cm and Tuni with nine cm.
