3-day philately exhibition in Ahmedabad from tomorrow

Ahmedabad, Oct 5 (UNI) Gujarat Governor Nawal Kishore Sharma will inaugurate the three-day eleventh Gujarat Philatelic Exhibition ''GUJPEX 2007'', organised by Department of Posts, here from tomorrow.

Addressing media persons here today, Chief Postmaster General (Gujarat) Vijaylaxmi Sheth said as many as 119 philatelists are participating in the exhibition.

Three special covers and pictorial cancellations will be released during the exhibition on the selected three themes -- Girl Child, Cricket and Technology -- Space Application.

Ms Sheth said this year's exhibition has interesting collections on milk, Gandhi, cricket, AIDS, monuments, birds and Lal Bahadur Shastri. The collection on ''milk'' by Prashan Pandya narrates the story of milk from its origin to its consumption and also educates the public on the importance of milk, nutrient values, and processing.

Another interesting collection in the invitee category is of Arvin Jain, who has an entry in the Limca Book of records for his collection of philatelic material on cricket. The collection tells of the famous victories in the history of cricket.

There will be seminars on ''Philsensex'', ''Modern Postal History'' and ''Modern Trends in Collecting Stamps''.
