Junior Army officer, militant killed in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 4: A Junior Commissioned officer (JCO) and a militant were killed in an encounter in North Kashmir this morning, official sources said.

They said Army and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint operation at village Garmaru Bandipora today following a tip-off about the presence of militants. During the operation, an encounter erupted after militants attacked the security forces. They said a JCO and a militant were killed so far.

The operation was still on when the reports last came in.
