Seafood exports costlier in India

Seafood
exporters
in
India
are
also
reeling
under
the
impact
of
the
rising
rupee
and
are
unable
to
compete
with
its
Asian
competitors
like
China,
Vietnam,
Bangladesh
and
Sri
Lanka.
Indian seafood exports dropped by 16 percent in quantity and 14 percent in value terms during the April to June quarter of 2007-08, compared with the same period a year ago… due to the appreciation of the Indian currency.
