No onion exports for next 15 days
New Delhi, Oct 03, 2007: Under pressure from spiralling onion prices in the domestic market, the government has suspended onion exports for 15 days and raised the minimum export price to a record high of $495 per tonne with effect from October 1.
The temporary ban comes a day after NAFED and 12 other canalising agencies increased the minimum export price by 50 dollars a tonne.
