Som Mittal is new Nasscom President

New Delhi, Oct 3: Som Mittal, Hewlett-Packard (HP) Asia-Pacific and Japan region head of services business, is the new president of Nasscom.

He takes over the post from Kiran Karnik, and will assume office from January 2008.

''I am joining Nasscom when Indian IT/ITeS sectort has established its position in the global landscape and is continously defining newer benchmarks,'' Mr Mittal told reporters here.

He is not a new face at Nasscom - he was the chairman of the body between 2003-04.

Mr Mittal is currently a trustee at Nasscom Foundation, the social development arm of the association.
