Kathmandu, Oct 3 (UNI) The top leaders of the seven parties today held a meeting here in an attempt to resolve the deadlock over finalising an electoral system for the Constituent Assembly elections.

The meeting comes two days ahead of the rescheduled date to file the nominations for the elections, Kantipuronline reported.

This morning, a meeting between Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and Maoist Chairman Prachanda failed as the PM adhered to his stance of not adopting a fully proportional electoral system, as demanded by the Maoists.

Mr Koirala told Prachanda that the onus of not holding eletions on time would be of Maoists. On the other hand, the Maoists said that if the elections are postponed, the Prime Minister would be held resposible.
