School children be associated with campaigns on social issues: LG
New Delhi, Oct 3 (UNI) School children should be associated with campaigns on relevant social issues, Delhi Lt. Governor Tejendra Khanna today said.
In his address at the Annual Day Function of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Public School, Rohini, the Lt Governor, quoting from Mahatma Gandhi's writing, 'education does not merely mean a knowledge of letters but it means a knowledge of duty', said, ''students should be brought up in such a manner as to develop a commitment to care and help others in the society.'' Speaking at the function, where the DG, CRPF, S I S Ahmed were also present, Mr Khanna said nurturing a new breed of students who have the capacity for innovation and compassion is the new challenge today.
On this occasion, the Lt. Governor gave away prizes to the meritorious students. He also inaugurated an exhibition put up by students on 'one hundred years of Gandhian Satyagraha Movement'.
