Paddy procurement picks up in Haryana mandis

Chandigarh, Oct 3 (UNI) The procurement of paddy in Haryana is picking up as over 4.31 lakh tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis of the state so far.

A spokesman for the Food and Supplies Department said 2.60 lakh tonnes had been procured by government agencies at the Minimum Support Price fixed by the Centre and the remaining about 1.71 lakh tonnes had been purchased by the private millers.

He said the Food and Supplies Department had procured 88,494 tonnes of paddy, followed by Hafed with 1.11 lakh tonnes, Confed 22,351 tonnes, Haryana Agro-Industries Corporation 34,371 tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 3481 tonnes and FCI 152 tonnes.

Kurukshetra district was leading with arrival about 1.59 lakh tonnes of paddy, followed by Karnal with 1.04 lakh tonnes. Kaithal district had procured 53,130 tonnes and Fatehabad 43,801 tonnes.
