Chandigarh, Oct 3 (UNI) In a public-private educational initiative, the Chandigarh Tourism Department through its society has signed an MOU with an educational society to conduct various tourism, travel and hospitality related courses in the tricity area. The MOU has been signed by the Society for Tourism and Entertainment Promotions (STEPS) with C-TEC which would conduct the courses in both short-term certificate and long-term degree mode.
The students would be able to join these courses along with their other degree courses.
These courses would be conducted at a subsidized fee to the students of Government colleges in the city and the class would be held after college hours and on holidays. The courses would be started in the month of December this year.
The Chandigarh Administration has made a provision to offer these courses free of cost to economically weaker sections of the society and to HIV positive persons.
There is a huge demand of professionals in tourism industry as the Chandigarh tricity is fast catching up on the map of Indian Tourism.
