Lioness dies in Junagadh's Sakarbaug zoo

Junagadh, Gujarat, Oct 3 (UNI) A 10-year-old lioness died due to illness this morning at the Sakarbaug zoo.

According to zoo superintendent R D Katara, the lioness may have died due to tuberculosis while its viscera has been sent to Anand's veterinary hospital for confirmation.

The lioness was earlier at the Gir forest and due to some injury was brought to the zoo in December 2006, he said.

He further said as the Wildlife Week is being celebrated, visitors are being allowed into the zoo without the payment of any fee.
