HC permits BEd holders of IGNOU for special BTC

Allahabad, Oct 3 (UNI) Allahabad High Court today quashed the order of single judge and permitted the BEd degree holders of IGNOU and Rajarshi Tandon Open University to appear in Special BTC for the selection of assistant teachers in various primary schools in Uttar Pradesh.

The bench comprising Chief Justice H L Gokhale and Justice A Kumar passed this order on a special appeal filed by Gyanendra Kumar Sharma and others.

The applicants were BEd degree holders from IGNOU and Rajarshi Tandon Open University, through distance education.

The special appeals had been filed challenging the judgement of a single judge of the HC, who had dismissed the writ petition of these applicants on the ground that since they had obtained BEd degree through distance education, therefore they could not apply or participate in special BTC recruitment of the state government.
