Taiwan's Acer to extend offer for Gateway
TAIPEI, Oct 2 (Reuters) Taiwan's Acer Inc , the world's third-largest PC vendor, said on Tuesday it is extending its 0 million offer for rival Gateway Inc to allow U.S. regulators time to complete a review of the deal.
The offer will be extended until 5 p.m. EDT (2100 GMT) on Wednesday Oct. 10, from midnight EDT on Oct. 1, Acer said in a statement.
Acer held 307 million shares, or almost 81 percent, of Gateway on Oct. 1, the company said.
Acer announced plans to buy Gateway in August, displacing Chinese rival Lenovo as the world's No.3 PC maker.
Acer shares rose 4 percent on Tuesday, outperforming the benchmark TAIEX index <.twii>, which ended 1.4 percent higher.
