President inaugurates 58th TB Seal campaign

New Delhi, Oct 2 (UNI) President Pratibha Devisingh Patil inaugurated the 58th TB Seal Campaign on Gandhi Jayanti today to mark the begining of a people's awareness campaign against the spread of the dreaded disease.

The TB Seal campaign is a noble effort to raise awareness about the disease among citizens, said the President, adding that the initiative would help eradicate the disease with people's support.

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Anbumani Ramadoss presented the TB Seals to the President.

The campaign, launched by the Tuberculosis Association of India, is organised every year to raise awareness among people and collect funds for its health education and other programmes.

Symbolising the country's determination to eliminate TB, the TB Seal carries with it the message that with early detection and treatment, patients could be cured easily and lead a normal life.
