London's Waterloo station shut over security alarm

LONDON, Oct 2 (Reuters) British transport police today detained a man at Waterloo station in London and shut part of the terminal over security fears, a transport police spokeswoman said.

The man was detained near the international side of the station, where Eurostar trains depart to Paris and other destinations, but police did not immediately reveal how he had attracted their attention.

''A man has been detained by British transport police and we are investigating,'' the spokeswoman said.
