London's Waterloo station reopens after alarm
LONDON, Oct 2 (Reuters) British transport police today detained a man at Waterloo station in London and briefly shut down part of the terminal over security fears, a transport police spokeswoman said.
The man was detained after he tried to pass through the passenger screening process in the international departure area of Waterloo carrying ''suspicious articles''.
After he set off an alarm he ran but was immediately detained by police and taken into custody, the spokeswoman said.
Parts of Waterloo, from where Eurostar trains depart to Paris and other destinations, were shut down as a result of the scare, but re-opened after an hour and 15 minutes, the police said.
''There is no more alarm at this stage,'' the spokeswoman said.
