Ex-MLA dead

Puducherry, Oct 2 (UNI) Former MLA M Venugopal died here tonight following cardiac arrest.

He was 74. Mr Venugopal is survived by his wife, six daughters and one son.

Mr Venugopal was admitted to the government general hospital where he died.

Elected from Villianur Constituency on a DMK ticket during 1980s when Mr M D R Ramachandran was the Chief Minister, Mr Venugopal was nominated to the Territorial Assembly in 1996 during the DMK Regime by Mr R V Janakiraman.He also held the post of the DMK Agricultural Wing Secretary.

According to informed sources the cremation will take place here tomorrow.
