CCEA approves SARDP-NE to set up better connectivity
Agartala, Oct 2 (UNI) The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs(CCEA) has approved the Modified Special Accelerated Road Development Programme for North Eastern Region(SARDP-NE) on the recommendations of the NE state governments.
Official sources here today said improvement and widening of roads would connect all the state capitals and district headquarters of the region and make remote and backward areas accessible to the industrial places and neighbouring countries.
Besides boosting socio-economic activities in the region, the project would reduce travel time enhance traffic safety by improving roads reduce vehicle operating costs and help energy conservation, sources stated.
The CCEA has approved the proposal of improving and constructing additional 994 km roads, worth Rs 4,673 crore, which adds up to a total of 2,304 km under the modified Phase A of SARDP-NE.
