BJP urges Kumaraswamy to convene JLP meeting

Bangalore, Oct 2 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party Karnataka unit President D V Sadananda Gowda today appealed to the Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to immediately convene the joint legislative party meeting to elect Mr B S Yediyurappa as the leader to form next government in the State.

In a letter submitted to the Chief Minister, along with the resignation letters of 17 ministers, Mr Gowda reminded Mr Kumaraswamy that the first 20 month tenure of Karnataka Development Front ended today.

"As per the agreement reached between the two parties, BJP had endorsed your candidature as Chief Minister for the first 20 months and now it is Mr Yediyurappa's turn to become the next Chief Minister," the letter said.

He also requested Mr Kumaraswamy to demit the office and allow BJP Legislature party to assume the office of the CM and avoid possible constitutional crisis.

Mr Gowda also sought cooperation and support for Mr Yediyurappa to lead the government successfully for the next 20 months.
