BJP stages dharna for Rama Sethu's protection

Vijayawada, Oct 2 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) city unit today staged a dharna in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue at the Kaleswararao market centre here, demanding protection to Ram Sethu.

Speaking on the occasion, BJP National Council Member K Haribabu criticised the Centre's move to go ahead with the present alignment for Sethusamudram Shipping Canal Project (SSCP), which would ''destroy'' the Ram Sethu.

The BJP warned the government of an intensified agitation, if it went ahead to ''destroy'' the Sethu.

He condemned Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for his remarks on Lord Rama.
