Unsafe edible oil being imported from Myanmar:FCS minister
Imphal, Oct 1 (UNI) Manipur Food and Civil Supplies (FCS) Minister Yumkham Erabot has expressed concern over the alleged low standard of edible oil being imported from Myanmar.
FCS officials today said the oil being imported from Myanmar through Moreh at Manipur's Chandel district was of comparatively low standards compared to those prescribed.
''The samples collected mainly from hotels and restaurants was found to be of poor quality,'' the officials said, adding appropriate action would be taken in this regard.
They also added that the oil pakcets had no labels to indicate the date of manufacture or expiry.
''Large number of people in Manipur used this edible oil and it is needed to be checked on health grounds,'' Mr Erabot said.
