Soldier commits suicide in Jammu
Jammu, Oct 1 (UNI) An army jawan allegedly shot himself dead with his service weapon while on duty at Nagrota, 13 kms from here, early today, defence spokesman said.
The jawan, identified as sepoy M Rajesh, 22, of 17 engineers regiment, shot himself with his insas rifle at 0155 hrs, defence spokesman Lt col S D Goswami told UNI.
The deceased, who belogned to Bangalore (Karnataka), had been on leave and joined his unit on September 27.
An independent court of inquiry has been instituted to ascertain the resons forcing sepoy Rajesh to take the extreme step, the spokesman said.
The army has also lodged an FIR with police, he added.
