Singapore Airlines to launch flights from Bangalore

Bangalore, Oct 1 (UNI) Notching up a higher than the Industry growth from this technopolis of India, Singapore Airlines today announced thrice a week flight from here, commencing October 29.

Talking to newspersons here, Airline Country General Manager C W Foo said the new schedule would take the total flights of Singapore Airlines from the city to ten.

The Airline had been recovering an average 15 per cent growth in its traffic volume every year, Mr Foo said adding that the volume of growth from Bangalore was much more and the capacity had been tripled since 2003, when the Airline launched its operations.

The day flights would ply on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays with the Airline operating a Boeing 777-200, offering 12 first, 42 business and 234 economy class seats. On Mondays and Saturdays the flight would leave at 0955 hrs and reach Singapore at 1650 hrs (local time). On Fridays the take-off time would be 1555 hrs, reaching Singapore at 2250 hrs (local time).

From Singapore, the flights would depart at 0645 hrs (local time) on Mondays and Saturdays and reach Bangalore at 0840 hrs. On Friday the take-off time would be 1245 hrs and arrival in Bangalore at 1440 hrs.

He said besides this, Singapore Airlines subsidiary 'Silk Air' would start operations from Coimbatore on October 28, taking the number of destinations covered by the Airline from India to 11.

To mark the occasion as well as to celebrate the festive season, the day flights would be offered at discounted fares to different destinations up to December. The reduction in fair ranged between 13 and 52 per cent.
