Bangalore, Oct 1 (UNI) A sharp slump in motorcycle sales reduced total two wheeler sales for TVS Motor Company in September 2007, with the numbers reported at 1,15,091 units, as against 1,62,200 units in September last year.

The company's motorcycle sales recorded 53,991 units in September this year, compared to 1,06,972 units recorded in September 2006.

Currently, the company's motorcycle portfolio was skewed towards the retail finance dependant entry level and was practically absent from the executive segment, which accounted for over 40 per cent sales.

The launch of its new executive range product TVS Flames would fill this gap and help the company to leverage the entire product portfolio in future, the company said in a release here.

In the scooter segment, TVS Scooty continued to post higher growth figures clocking 27,199 units in September 2007 when compared to 24,890 units of last year, recording nine per cent growth. The launch of TVS Scooty Teenz EV was expected to further strengthen this segment as well.

The company said its 110 cc TVS StaR City would be available during the upcoming festival season and give the sales a further thrust. Along with the recently launched TVS Apache RTR,the company would offer a complete motorcycle portfolio to consumers.
