Seven held guilty in DM G Krishnaiya murder case

Patna, Oct 1 (UNI) A local court today held seven high-profile politicians, including MLA of ruling JD(U) Vijay Kumar Shukla alias Munna Shukla, guilty in the 13-year-old DM G Krishnaiya murder case.

The quantum of sentence would be pronounced on October 3.

Besides Shukla, Additional District and Sessions Judge Ramshresth Rai held Lalganj MLA and former MP Anand Mohan, his wife and former MP Lavli Anand, former RJD MLA Akhlak Ahmad and other leaders, including Prof Arun Kumar Singh, Shashi Shekhar Thakur and Harendra Kumar, guilty of the murder under sections 147, 302, 307, 149 and 427 of the IPC.

While delivering the judgement, the judge said accused Anand Mohan, Lavli Anand, Akhlak Ahmad Prof Arun Kumar Singh were members of the 'unlawful assembly', which murdered the senior IAS officer and the then District Magistrate(DM) of Gopalganj G Krishnaiya on December 5,1994.

Mr Krishnaiya, who was on way to Gopalganj from Samastipur, was thrashed by the mob and later shot dead near Khabra village on National Highway 28 in Muzaffarpur district.

The court held all the seven accused guilty of murder and attempted murder, cancelled their bail requests and ordered the police to arrest them.

All the accused have been taken into custody and sent to Beur central jail.

Altogether, 36 people have been made accused in the FIR.

The court exonerated 29 accused, while holding the seven high profile politicians guilty in the DM murder case.
