New Delhi, Oct 1 (UNI) The Congress today said there is no need for the dismissal of the Tamil Nadu government in the wake of the Supreme Court's ''oral observation'' this morning in connection with a bandh-like situation in that state despite a ban on general strikes.

Whether the Karunanidhi government violated the Supreme Court ban would be decided by the court at the end of the hearing of arguments and only the final order of the court was binding on the Centre or the state, AICC spokesman Abishek Singhvi told reporters.

The situation in Tamil Nadu today and the state-wide day-long fast by leaders of the DMK and other constituents of the Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) were the subject matter of the hearings in the Supreme Court on the Sethusamudram Canal Project and as such were sub judice, he said and declined to take questions.
