Satyam bags Asian CSR Award

Hyderabad, Oct 1 (UNI) Satyam Computer Services Ltd has won the Asian Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Award for its 'GramIT' (Rural BPO) programme.

According to a company release here today, Satyam's representative Harsh Vardhan accepted the award at a function held on September 28 at Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.

The GramIT programme, a key initiative of Byrraju Foundation, an NGO founded by Satyam Chairman and Founder B Ramalinga Raju, provided special training to educated unemployed villagers to mould them fit for rural business processing outsourcing facilities.

The Byrraju Foundation had been undertaking various welfare programmes to enhance the quality of life of over two million people in 180 villages in the Andhra Pradesh, the release added.
