United Nations, Oct 1: External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee will address the 62nd session of the UN General Assembly here tommorow. The Minister is addressing the UN session for the second successive year in place of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Mr Mukherjee, who has been joined by Congress President and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, will also address the world body separately. The External Affairs Minister, among other things, participated in the formal inauguration of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas held here.
This was the first time that such an event was held outside India. He had bilateral meetings with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as well as his counterparts from other BRIC nations which comprises Brazil, Russia, India and China.
Several other ministerial meetings, including NAM, were also held. Mr Mukherjee also visited Washington briefly during his week-long US tour and held several bilateral meetings.
