One arrested with fake currency

Giridih, Oct 01 (UNI) A person was arrested with fake currency of about Rs 17,000 from Town police station area in Jharkhand's Giridh district.

Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar Singh here today said acting on a tip off police nabbed one Prakash Sao last evening while he was exchanging the notes with another.

''The seized currency had 26 notes of Rs 500 denomination and 4 notes of Rs 1000 denomination'' Mr Singh said.

Mr Singh suspected an international racket behind the incident as the notes appeared to have been printed in Pakistan adding that the matter would be handed over to CID for further investigation.

Earlier, on August eight, one person with fake currency to the tune of Rs 19,000 was arrested from Nimiaghat police station area of the district.
