Mayawati greets people on Gandhi Jayanti

Lucknow, Oct 1 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

In her message, Ms Mayawati noted that the nation would always remain indebted to Mahatma Gandhi for securing the country's freedom from the British.

She observed that the Mahatma's principles of truth and non-violence were even more relevant today, when the world is faced with terrorism.

On this day, we must take a pledge to tread the path propogated by the great leader, Ms Mayawati added.

She underlined that the economic thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi could show a new path for ushering in composite development in the country and the entire world.

The CM would participate in several programmes to be held here tomorrow to mark the day.
